About the light festival in Uppsala
On November 1 2018 is the sixth edition of Uppsala Light Festival, where light installations illuminate the city center during one of the darkest months of the year. The theme of the festival is the 100th anniversary of Ingmar Bergman’s birth. He was born on July 14, 1918 in Uppsala and between 1-18 November next year, his work will inspire the festival.
This is the sixth time that a number of city squares in central Uppsala will be illuminated. Together, they form an innovatively beautiful light installation and a pleasant promenade. We cordially invite you, your friends and family out into the November dark to discover Uppsala in a new light!
The Allt ljus light festival has been held in Uppsala every even year since 2008. Its twin aims are to get residents and visitors out into the city in one of the year’s darkest months and to show off new technology and interesting ways of working with light.
Allt ljus is arranged by the municipality of Uppsala and Uppsala City in collaboration with lighting engineers, installation hosts, partners and co-organisers. Destination Uppsala project manages and markets the event.
We would like to send our warmest thanks to our installation hosts, sponsors and co-organisers!

We take care of both the local environment and the environment at large. We actively seek to hold a light festival that is as sustainable as possible and which has as little negative environmental impact as possible. Our initiatives include actively reducing littering and encouraging our co-organisers to adopt an environment and sustainability aware approach to carrying out their activities.
As a visitor, you can help too! Please help us to reduce littering by using the provided litter bins. Where possible, take an active responsibility for sorting your litter (paper in the paper bin, etc.). We also encourage you to use public transport. Getting a bus or a train to the festival is easy – tickets can be bought directly via the UL-app.
